Wind Energy is fueled by the wind, so it's a clean fuel source. Wind energy doesn't pollute the air like power plants that rely on combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, diesel or natural gas. With an annual average wind speed of 7m/s, the 400kW Wind Turbine produces 996,000kWh. If this amount of electricity were to be produced by a coal or gas plant, 916,320kg and 48,140kg of CO2 would be emitted respectively.
The life of a typical wind turbine is around 20 to 30 years. There is ZERO fuel cost for the entire operating life. The payback period of Wind Turbine is less than 10 years.
